While briefing the Senate Committee on Power, on Thursday August 2nd 2018, federal energy ministry officials said that Iran has stopped 80 MW of electricity supply to Pakistan’s coastal areas.

Iran has a contract with Pakistan to supply 100MW of electricity to its coastal areas. As a result of this disruption, Makran coast, including Gwadar, Panjgur, and Pasni have suffered, officials said.

The main cause cited for this disruption is being reported as the affect of heat waves and load-shedding occurring in Iran that has exacerbated the situation there.
