Inflated Bills to be readjusted in next billing: Petroleum Minister

ISLAMABAD, Mar 7: Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan on Thursday said that concerned ministry was taking all out measures to provide relief to those consumers who were facing overbilling issues.

The people who got excessive billing would be compensated in the next billing, he stated while talking to a private news channel.

In reply to a question the minister said that on the directives of the prime minister, a committee had been formed to investigate the matter of overbilling in the gas sector. He said that any person either from MD or GM level found involved in the excessive billing issue, would face punishment according to law.

The minister said that two companies Sui Southern and Sui Northern were facing financial issues, due to which, he added that the companies had put the burden on consumers to fill the financial gap being faced by these two companies.

To a question, he said that there is 12 billion rupee circular debt in the power sector, while the gas sector was facing 157 billion circular debt.

To another question he said some 49 billion gas had been stolen or wastage.

The prime minister he said himself was looking into the affairs, adding that premier had held several meetings to streamline the system in the gas sector. He said those found involved in the disturbance of the system of gas sector, would face action according to the law.
