He said that the provision of skills by the universities and the training institutes would significantly help in generating employment opportunities in the country. He made these remarks while chairing a meeting of the Advisory Council of the National Skills University (NSU), Islamabad, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, today.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Federal Education and Professional training, Mr. Shafqat Mahmood, Vice-Chancellor NSU, Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar, and members of the Advisory Council. The Vice-Chancellor briefed the meeting about the role of NSU in imparting skill-based and technical education. Addressing the meeting, the President emphasized the need for establishing linkages and partnerships between NSU and the industrial sector, saying that participation and collaboration between NSU and the industrial sector were very critical as it would help in imparting marketable skills and generate employment opportunities for the youth.

He said that the industrial sector of the country was facing a shortage of skilled workforce and he urged the NSU and other technical training institutes to produce employable graduates as per the requirements of the market. The President further emphasized that steps needed to be taken to raise awareness among people about the academic and other training and skill development programmes being offered by the university.
