Imports observe a substantial decline over the year, in January

February 19, 2019 (MLN): Imports into Pakistan during January, 2019 was $4.5 billion (provisional) as compared to $4.44 billion (provisional) in December, 2018 showing an increase of 1.35% but decreased by 19.14% as compared to $ 5.57 billion in January, 2018.

The imports during July -January, 2018 -2019 totaled $32.5 billion (provisional) as against $34.3 billion during the corresponding period of last year showing a decrease of 5.17%.

Main commodities of imports during January, 2019 were Petroleum products (Rs.60,740million), Petroleum crude (Rs.39,137million), Natural Gas Liquefied (Rs. 36,661million), Iron & steel (Rs.27,218 million), Plastic materials (Rs.23,553million), Palm oil (Rs.23,469million), Electrical machinery & apparatus (Rs.22,449million), Iron & steel scrap (Rs.18,074million), Aircrafts, ships & boats (Rs.17,715 million) and Medicinal products (Rs.11,389million).
