January 06, 2023 (MLN): In a major breakthrough,  Kristalina Georgieva, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has assured that a team will visit Pakistan in days to come for a review of the economy, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said during a TV broadcast on Friday.

“We will try our best to fully comply with all the (IMF) conditions,” PM said while talking to the MD on phone yesterday. 

He also requested her to ease the terms of the deal as he is not willing to further burden the general public. The government has already imposed taxes on the rich strata of society.  

At present, the program is stalled at the level of the ninth review. Meanwhile, the experts are of the view that the government is hesitant to implement a few of the IMF's conditions.
