November 2, 2018 (MLN): The international Monetary Fund (IMF) will commence discussions with Pakistan regarding its upcoming bailout package for the country, from November 7, 2018.

The Fund's objective through this bailout program is to help stabilize Pakistan's economy. The fund will put in place certain conditions, to ensure sustained economic growth in Pakistan.

According to sources, modalities will be announced once a staff level agreement is reached. The IMF staff will then forward the report to the Board for their approval, after which the bailout program will be carried out.

Pakistan made a formal request for the bailout package to IMF, on October 11, 2018, in Bali.
