September 24, 2018 (MLN): Islamabad High Court on Monday approved the removal of Saeed Ahmed from the post of President National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) against Ahmed’s petition challenging the decision of the Federal Government.

The newly elected government had during the month of August suspended Saeed Ahmed on the request of the National Accountability Bureau on grounds that Ahmed was a co-accused in a money laundering case along with two other persons.

Even though Saeed Ahmed was exonerated on the charges of money laundering, he continued to face allegations of aiding and abetting former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, which prompted the NAB to seek his suspension on grounds that he could influence the ongoing investigations on the case, the main reference of which remains Ishaq Dar.
