October 03, 2018 (MLN): According to the official data released by PBS on yearly inflation, the Health category, having a CPI weightage of 2.18%, recorded an increase in index of 0.7% on a month-on-month (MoM) basis and 6.02% on a year-on-year basis (YoY), during the month of September 2018.
The changes in prices of Health constituents perturbed the CPI by a 0.02% increase on a month-on-month (MoM) basis and 0.13% increase on a year-on-year basis (YoY),
The prices of Doctor Clinic Fee and Medical tests exhibited the highest increase within the lot as their CPI augmented by 1.14% and 0.78% on month-on-month (MoM) basis, and 9.1% and 9.33% on year-on-year basis (YoY) respectively.
Congruently, the most influential constituent i.e. drugs and medicines increased by 0.35% on a month-on-month (MoM) basis 2.96% on a year-on-year basis (YoY).
The changes in prices of medical equipment were reflected by an increase in index by 0.67% on month-on-month (MoM) basis, and 4.09% on year-on-year basis (YoY).
To cap it all, the overall one year trend displayed a gradual increase in the CPI.
