Govt to ensure transparency in privatization of Pakistan Steel Mills, Senate informed

June 9, 2020: The Senate was informed on Monday that the government will ensure transparency in the privatization process of Pakistan steel mills. This was stated by Minister for Information and Broadcasting while responding to a point of order raised by Senator Raza Rabani in the House.

He said the government will also keep conflict of interest in view.

Earlier, Senator Raza Rabani criticized government policy to privatize steel mills.

The House passed six resolutions yesterday.

In the first resolution, the House recommended that the government should make an up-to-date system for disposal of garbage including the establishment of sewerage treatment plants in different areas of Islamabad.

The second resolution, in pursuance of the resolution of the 40th session of OIC's Foreign Ministers in 2013, urged the government to celebrate the 15th day of Ramazan ul Mubarak as Orphan's Day.

In the third resolution, the House recommended that the Government should take immediate steps to appoint ambassadors of Pakistan against the 20% quota reserved for non-career diplomats.

The fourth resolution demanded that the Federal Government should take immediate steps for approval and facilitation of solar and wind energy projects in Balochistan on a priority basis.

The fifth resolution that officers belonging to such occupational groups which have direct nexus with the provinces, including but not limiting to Pakistan Administrative Service, Police Service of Pakistan, In-land Revenue Service, do not perform duties in the provinces during their entire term of service should not be granted promotions in the next grades till such time they have experience of serving in a province for a period of at least three years.

In the sixth resolution, the House demanded that the Government should allow prohibited bore arms licenses to all Parliamentarians and BS-20 and above officers of the Federal and Provincial governments.

The House yesterday passed four bills.

These include; “The Maintenance and Welfare of Old Parents and Senior Citizens Bill, 2019”, “The Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019”, “The Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2019” and “The Islamabad Pure Food Authority Bill, 2019”.
