July 29, 2021 (MLN): Power shortfalls in Iran have led to load shedding in Gwadar, Turbat, and Makraan regions as these areas are not connected to the national grid and are dependent upon the Iranian power supply.

In a tweet today, Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar said “We have taken up the issue with the Iranian govt and requested them to normalize power supply.”

Work is also in progress on connecting these areas with the national grid. This involves laying transmission lines for hundreds of kms, he said.

This project will be completed within 2 years, he added.

The ongoing power shortages in the Iran belt are severely affecting business activities in Gwadar and the adjacent districts.
