June 07, 2022 (MLN): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail on Tuesday, refuted the news of yet another hike on petroleum product prices and clarified that there is no summary or plan to raise fuel prices.

His statement comes amid rumors circulating in different sections of the media about another hike in the prices of petroleum products just a few days after the government increased fuel prices by Rs30 per litre which was a second hike in a week.

“In the pre-budget seminar I never even spoke about petroleum prices. Channels running these tickers are doing a disservice to their viewers. There will be no increase in prices today and there is no summary or plan to raise prices”, he tweeted.

Earlier today, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, also appealed to the media and public to not pay heed to such rumors. “There is no shortage of petroleum products in the country. Avoid spreading rumors”, she added.

Meanwhile, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) while stating country has more than sufficient stocks available, advised all OMCs to maintain adequate stocks at the petrol pumps.
