Govt hikes petrol price by Rs6.72 per litre

August 15, 2022 (MLN): The government on Monday increased petrol price by Rs6.72 per litre for the next fortnight.

“In the wake of fluctuations in petroleum prices in the international market and exchange rate variations, the government has decided to revise the existing prices or petroleum products to pass on the impact to the consumers,” the statement released by the Finance Division said.

After the latest round of hikes, petrol will be priced at Rs233.91per litre (up by Rs6), while light diesel oil at Rs191.75 per litre (up by Rs0.43).

Meanwhile, government slashed price of high-speed diesel, kerosene oil slightly by Rs0.51 and Rs 1.67 to stand at Rs244.44 per litre and Rs199.4 per litre respectively.

New prices of petroleum products are effective from August 16, 2022.
