Ghee, Cooking oil production grow by 1.2%, 1% during 8MFY19

April  26, 2019: Domestic production of vegetable ghee and cooking oil has witnessed about 1.16 percent and 0.92 percent growth respectively during first eight months of current financial year as compared the production of the corresponding period of last year.

During the period from July-February, 2018-19, about 914,995 metric tons of vegetable ghee manufactured to fulfill the domestic consumptions as well as for exporting as compared the manufacturing of 904,490 metric tons of the same period of last year.

According to the provisional Quantum Indices of Large Scale Manufacturing Industries (LSMI), local production of vegetable ghee grew by 4.86 percent during the month of February, 2019 as about 114,044 metric tons of the ghee produced as compared the production of 108,761 metric tons of the same period of last year.

It is worth mentioning here that the over-all output of LSMI in the country decreased by 1.72 percent during the period from July-February, 2018-19 as compared the same period of last year.

Meanwhile, domestic production of cooking oil also recorded 0.92 percent growth in first eight months of current financial year as about 266,447 metric tons of above mentioned commodity produced to tackle with the domestic requirements as compared the production of 264,322 metric tons in the same period of last year.

The cooking oil production in month of February, 2019 grew by 1.75 percent as about 31,958 metric tons cooking oil manufactured as against the manufacturing of 31,412 metric tons of same month of last year, it added.

However, the production of blended tea reduced by 2.14 percent in period under review as it about 107,170 tons of tea blended produced as compared the production of 109,509 tons of same period of last year.

Blended tea production in the country increased 3.09 percent in month of February, 2019 as it was recorded at 13,995 metric tons as compared the production of about 13,478 metric tons of same month last year.
