Foreign investors sell securities worth Rs6bn via SCRA

September 03, 2021 (MLN): Foreign investors pulled out a net amount of Rs6 billion securities from the debt market during the week ended August 27, 2021 i.e. around Rs.4.34 billion lower than last week's numbers, marking a second straight weekly net selling.

According to a weekly report on Specially Convertible Rupee Accounts (SCRA) released by the State Bank of Pakistan, the gross sale of securities during the week was recorded at Rs.14.2 billion, which is around 32.5 percent lower than the figures recorded last week. Similarly, the total purchase of securities stood at Rs.8.2 billion, which is 57.8 percent lower than the prior week.

Over the week, the overall purchase of securities declined by Rs.11.16 billion while the net sale of securities tumbled by Rs.6.82 billion.

Apart from this, the inflow of remittance into these accounts stood at Rs.3.04 billion, while its outflow has been reported at Rs.2.8 billion.

The closing balance of SCRA was recorded at Rs.35.91 billion, which marks a rise of Rs.6.34 billion over the week.
