The Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) has urged the government to announce a long-term policy for export of wheat and wheat made-ups.

In a joint statement, PFMA officer bearers including Asif Raza, Liaquat Ali Khan, Iftikhar Mattoo and Mian Riaz said that the upcoming government should announce a long-term policy for the export of wheat and related products in order to save over 10 million tons of wheat stored across the country.

They said that the policy should focus on value-addition to the agricultural exports so that the country can earn precious foreign exchange and create some favorable balance in its export earnings and import bills.

They also stressed on the fact that the export of wheat and its products will not only help the country in overcoming the massive trade deficits that the nation has been incurring, but will also bring prosperity for the farming community.
