Fertilizer sales down by 11.8% in Kharif 2018

October 25, 2018 (MLN): Total sale of fertilizer including Nitrogen, Phosphate and Potash has decreased by 11.8% cumulatively, during the six month of Kharif season, 2018. Fertilizer offtake during these months, last year, was recorded at 2.4 million tons while this year it stands at 2.1 million tons.

According to data provided by National Fertilizer Development Centre (NFDC), out of this 2.1 million tonnes of fertilizer, 372.9 thousand tons were sold in September alone. However, the offtake during the month has increased by 9.3% over the year.

Out of the 372.9 thousand tons of fertilizer offtake in September, the largest share of sales was made for nitrogen (265.7 thousand tons), while Phosphate with 97 thousand tone and potash with a sale of 10.3 thousand tons, followed.

As compared to September 2017, phosphate sale during the month witnessed a rise of 63.5% while potash sales grew by 28.8%. Phosphate on the other hand experience a decline in sales by 43.2%
