Fertilizer offtake sees a 3.4% YoY decline in February

March 24, 2021 (MLN): Total nutrient offtake during February 2021 was about 309 thousand tonnes, showing a decrease of 3.4 percent over February 2020.

Nitrogen and potash offtake decreased by 6.3 and 3.1 percent while phosphate offtake increased 10.3 percent.

During Rabi 2020-21 (October-February), the total fertilizer nutrient offtake was about 2,263 thousand tonnes, which increased by 11 percent compared with the same time frame of last Rabi (2019-20). Nitrogen offtake increased by 13.9 percent, phosphate offtake by 2.0 percent, while potash offtake increased by 33.3 percent. In product terms, urea offtake was about 2882 thousand tonnes which increased by 12.1 percent, whereas DAP offtake was 961 thousand tonnes, showing a decrease of 3.8 percent over the same time frame of previous Rabi 2019-20.

The total Production of all fertilizer products during February 2021 was about 629 thousand tonnes. Out of this urea production was 436 thousand tonnes which is 69.3 percent of total production. Other products were DAP 38 thousand tonnes, CAN 69 thousand tonnes, Nitrophos 67 thousand tonnes, SSP 12 thousand tonnes and SOP 0.9 thousand tonnes. About 6 thousand tonnes of different grades of NPKs have also been produced.

Meanwhile, imported supplies were 3 thousand tonnes including 1.3 thousand tonnes of SOP and 1 thousand tonnes each of DAP and MOP during February 2021.
