Federal govt. borrows another net sum of Rs.71 bln over the week

February 4, 2019 (MLN): The federal government’s net borrowing for budgetary support has been recorded at Rs.805.9 billion by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), for the period July 1 – January 25, 201.

This amount is nearly thrice of the net borrowing by the same period last year, which was Rs.272.7 billion.

Until last week, the federal government was Rs.734.7 billion in debt, which means that another Rs.71.2 billion (net) was borrowed over the week.

According to SBP’s weekly data release on Monetary Aggregates, amount borrowed from SBP so far is Rs.3.8 trillion, while SBP’s contribution last year was Rs.902.9 billion

Nevertheless, a net sum of over Rs.3 trillion of Scheduled Banks was retired during this phase this fiscal year.
