Exports from Pakistan to UAE fail to show any improvement

March 27, 2019 (MLN): The exports from Pakistan to United Arab Emirates (UAE) during the first eight months of the current fiscal year have decreased to $852 million, as compared to the exports of $855 million recorded in the corresponding period of last fiscal year.

On the other hand, imports from UAE went up to $6.240 billion in the first eight months of the current fiscal year, as opposed to imports of $5.793 billion in the same period last year.

As a result, the trade deficit between Pakistan and UAE during the period under review has augmented by 9.1 percent, as it increased to $5.387 billion in July-February (FY19) as compared to the trade deficit of $4.937 billion in same period of the preceding year.

On year-on-year basis, the imports from UAE went down to $399.916 million in February 2019 against the imports worth of $595.691 million recorded during same month of last year.

Congruently, the exports of goods and services from Pakistan to UAE decreased from $116.877 million in February 2018 to $112.170 million in same month of current year.
