Electricity prices hike likely to hit Rs.6.49 per unit

January 16, 2019 (MLN): A recent press release by National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has disclosed that in response to the fuel adjustment for the month of December, power companies have pledged recommendations to increase electricity prices by 63 paisa/kWh, over the reference fuel charges of Rs.5.86/kWh.

As an aftermath of the approval of these recommendations, the cost of electricity will go up to Rs.6.49/kWh.

A hearing in this regard is to be conducted on January 23, 2019.
