Dollar trades at 4 month low

October 14, 2019 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) closed today's trading session relatively unchanged against the USD with the rate stable at PKR 156.08.

Earlier today, in the interbank market, the Pak rupee appreciated, with the dollar quoted at 155.98/156.03. Dollar was traded at 155.97 which has not been quoted below 156 since June 14, 2019. Moreover, the PKR appreciated by Rs.8.07 since it fell to an all-time low of Rs.164.05 against the dollar.

The rupee endured a relatively dull trading session with very little intraday movement, trading in a range of 13 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 156.11 and an intraday Low offer of 156.01.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 155.40/156.50 per USD.

Meanwhile, the currency lost 76 paisa to the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 196.23 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 195.47 per GBP.

Similarly, PKR's value weakened by 23 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 172.21 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 13.00/13.25 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 13.20/13.30 percent.
