Dap offtake shows exceptional growth in Sindh and Balochistan

August 26, 2020 (MLN): The total DAP offtake during the month of July 2020 was 247 thousand tonnes, which signified an increase of 22.5 percent over July 2019.

During Kharif 2020 (April-July), DAP offtake stood at 635 thousand tonnes, showing a decline of 3.6 percent over the same period of last year.

Kharif 2020 began with 500 thousand tonnes of opening inventory of DAP. Domestic production is estimated at around 404 thousand tonnes, while imported supplies are around 484 thousand tonnes. Thus 1388 thousand tonnes of DAP would be available in Kharif 2020 against an estimated offtake of 987 thousand tonnes. The situation regarding DAP looks satisfactory during Kharif 2020.

Offtake of DAP increased by 3, 107, and 131 percent in Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan respectively. Its offtake decreased by 11 percent in KP.

Total available DAP during July 2020 was 630 thousand tonnes comprising 474 thousand tonnes of opening balance, 81 thousand tonnes of imported supplies, and 75 thousand tonnes of domestic production. DAP offtake was 247 thousand tonnes leaving a balance of 382 thousand tonnes for August 2020.
