DAP offtake increases by 88% YoY in January

February 23, 2021 (MLN): The total DAP offtake during the month of January 2021 was 82 thousand tonnes, registering an increase of 87.9 percent as compared to the offtake of 44 thousand tonnes in January 2020.

According to the monthly report issued by National Fertilizer Development Centre (NFDC), the cumulative DAP offtake during Rabi 2020-21 (October-January) was 873 thousand tonnes which decreased by 4.3 percent over same time frame of Rabi 2019-20.

DAP offtake during January 2021 increased in Punjab and Sindh by 104 and 169 percent respectively, whereas it decreased by 52 and 78 percent KP and Balochistan.

Total DAP availability was 188 thousand tonnes during the month under review. It comprised 112 thousand tonnes of opening balance, 59 thousand tonnes imported supplies, and 17 thousand tonnes of domestic production. DAP offtake was about 82 thousand tonnes. The closing balance works out to be 106 thousand tonnes.

‘Total availability of DAP is estimated around 1,193 thousand tonnes during Rabi 2020-21. This includes 297 thousand tonnes of opening stock, 514 thousand tonnes of imported supplies and 381 thousand tonnes of domestic production. The offtake of DAP would be 1,057 thousand tonnes, leaving a closing balance of 136 thousand tonnes for next season’, the report further stated.
