DAP offtake grows by 180.2% YoY in August owing to anticipations of price increase

September 23, 2020 (MLN): Total DAP offtake during the month of August stood at about 295 thousand tonnes, which is 180.2 percent more than the same period of last year.

According to National Fertilizer Development Centre, offtake of DAP increased due to expectation regarding increase in prices in domestic market in line with international market.

Cumulative DAP offtake during Kharif 2020 (April-August) was 934 thousand tonnes, which shows an increase of 22.1 percent over same time frame of Kharif 2019.

DAP offtake during August, 2020 increased by 197, 182, 119 and 48 percent in Punjab, Sindh, KP and Balochistan respectively, as compared to the same timeframe of last year.

Total availability of DAP during August 2020 was 536 thousand tonnes, which included 379 thousand tonnes stock of previous month, 84 thousand tonnes of imported supplies and domestic production of 73 thousand tonnes. DAP offtake was about 295 thousand tonnes. The closing balance worked out to be 241 thousand tonnes.
