DAP offtake experiences downward trend due to price escalation

August 25, 2021 (MLN): The total DAP offtake during the month of July 2021 was recorded at 193 thousand tonnes, registering a decrease of 22.9 percent as compared to the offtake of 251 thousand tonnes in July 2020.

According to the monthly report issued by National Fertilizer Development Centre (NFDC), the cumulative DAP offtake during Kharif 2020-21 (April-July) was 481 thousand tonnes indicating a 24.7 percent decrease over the same time frame of Kharif 2020. Offtake of DAP is experiencing a downward trend due to price escalation.

Province-wise, DAP offtake significantly decreased by 9, 46, 41 and 62 percent in Punjab, Sindh, KP and Balochistan, respectively over July 2020.

The total availability of DAP during July 2021 was 594 thousand tonnes comprising 353 thousand tonnes of opening balance, 167 thousand tonnes of imported supplies and 74 thousand tonnes of domestic production. DAP offtake was 193 thousand tonnes leaving a balance of 401 thousand tonnes for August 2021.
