Credit to Non-Government sector reaches Rs881 billion: SBP

April 15, 2019 (MLN): The State Bank of Pakistan recently issued its report regarding the Provisional Data on Monetary Aggregates, as per which the credit given to the Non-government sector during the current fiscal year has reached Rs. 881.98 billion as of April 5, 2019, i.e. around 44.6 percent higher than the same period last year.

To be precise, the credit given to private sector during the period under review accounted for Rs.576.98 billion, which is almost 30.31 percent higher than last year’s figure of Rs. 442 billion.

Within the private sector, credit to conventional banking branches was Rs. 396.1 billion, credit to Islamic Banks was Rs. 78.6 billion whereas credit to Islamic Branches of conventional banks was around Rs.102 billion.

Conversely, credit given to the Public Sector Enterprises (PSE’s) amounted to Rs. 303.2 billion, which is around 82.5 percent greater than the amount recorded last year.

Last but not the least, the credit given to NBFIs stood at Rs. 1.7 billion, i.e. almost double of the amount credited last year.
