Cotton Arrivals as of November 1st fall short by 5.3%, YoY

November 5, 2018 (MLN): Cotton Arrivals as of November 1, 2018 have fallen short by 428 thousand bales as compared to the corresponding period of last year, marking a drop of 5.3% on a year-on-year basis.

According to the records maintained by Pakistan Cotton Ginner’s Association, the total amount of cotton that arrived at various ginneries in Pakistan adds up to 7.7 million bales, while last year by November 1st, it had been recorded at 8.1 million bales.

Out of these 7.7 million bales, 4.3 million bales of cotton have arrived at ginneries in Punjab while 3.4 million bales have arrived at ginneries in the province of Sindh.

The total arrival in Punjab has fallen short by 386.8 thousand bales or 8.3%, while total arrivals in Sindh have fallen short by 41.2 thousand bales or 1.2%

A breakdown of the total cotton arrivals shows that almost 84 thousand bales of cotton were sold to exporters during the period while 5.7 million bales were sold to the textile sector.

Total unsold stock around this period has been logged in at 1.9 million bales, while as of November 1, 2017, the total unsold stock was 1.95 million bales.
