Closing Bell: That’s a relief

May 12, 2020 (MNL): The KSE-100 index ended today’s trading session with a 319.23 point or 0.96 percent gain and closed at 33,603 points. Investors’ participation on Tuesday saw a surge after the Prime Minister called for the commencement of Bhasha Dam construction.

The Index remained positive throughout the session touching an intraday high of 33,628.37

Of the 90 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 56 closed up 33 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 149.32 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 150 points, Commercial Banks with 67 points, Fertilizer with 62 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 28 points and Power Generation & Distribution with 24 points.

The most points added to the index was by LUCK which contributed 50 points followed by ENGRO with 31 points, HBL with 29 points, MCB with 28 points and DGKC with 26 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 16 points, Tobacco with 8 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 4 points, Leather & Tanneries with 4 points and Insurance with 4 points.

The most points taken off the index was by SNGP which stripped the index of 20 points followed by BAHL with 9 points, PMPK with 8 points, DAWH with 7 points and AICL with 6 points.

All Share Volume increased by 26.29 Million to 224.53 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.42.45 Billion.

Total companies traded were 345 compared to 328 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 204 closed up, 124 closed down while 17 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 25,500 to 84,678.

Value Traded increased by 2.98 Billion to Rs.7.37 Billion
