Closing Bell: Rally to Restore Sanity

Jun 08, 2020 (MNL): The KSE-100 index continued to feed off the positive momentum that transpired in the international markets yesterday, and consequently ended the trading session on Monday with a 399.15 point or 1.16 percent gain to close at 34,749.57.

The Index remained positive throughout the session touching an intraday high of 34,771.89

Of the 97 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 67 closed up 28 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 144.06 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 133 points, Commercial Banks with 85 points, Cement with 52 points, Technology & Communication with 32 points and Pharmaceuticals with 28 points.

The most points added to the index was by MCB which contributed 52 points followed by POL with 51 points, UBL with 36 points, PPL with 34 points and OGDC with 32 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Power Generation & Distribution with 17 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 13 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 3 points, Textile Spinning with 2 points and Transport with 1 points.

The most points taken off the index was by HUBC which stripped the index of 17 points followed by BAHL with 14 points, DAWH with 14 points, MEBL with 7 points and COLG with 6 points.

All Share Volume increased by 133.28 Million to 222.42 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.60.75 Billion.

Total companies traded were 355 compared to 319 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 232 closed up, 106 closed down while 17 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 45,017 to 93,057.

Value Traded increased by 4.72 Billion to Rs.8.69 Billion
