Closing Bell – KSE 100 index gains 399 points, up by 0.89 percent

The markets were calm and ended the day on a positive note ahead of a politically active weekend. The week started with a bloodshed which saw markets loose more than 1800 points yet after tumultuous ride throughout the week, the markets today at the week end closed on a more positive note with gaining more than 400 points.

The events over the weekend are expected to have a decided impact on the market as the JIT probe reaches on its verdict and submits it to the Supreme Court. All eyes will be on the how the political drama unfolds.

The oil prices fell again today by 1 percent as the US oversupply continues to hamper any stability in the market. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures traded at $44.40 a barrel, down $1.12 or 2.5 percent. Their session low of $44.20 was also the lowest in over a week.

The session witnessed a cumulative incline of 399.03 points or a 0.89 percent.

The index touched an intra-day high of 45291.89 and a low of 44549.45 points, and closed at a tally of 45222.15 points.

The net gainers by price during today’s session were; Millat Tractors Limited MTL +49.22, Services Industries Limited SRVI +45.00, Atlas Honda ATLH +21.00%, Engro Corporation ENGRO +11.89% and Climax Engineering Company Limited CECL +10.93%.

The net percentage decliners during the session were; Nestle Pakistan NESTLE -100.00, Wyeth Pakistan WYETH -29.99, Honda Atlas Cars HCAR -21.09, Indus Motor Company INDU -12.94 and Sazgar Engineering Works SAZEW -10.79.

All Share Volume decreased by 14.25 Million to 132.37 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.72.22 Billion.

Total companies traded were 329 compared to 343 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 237 closed up, 79 closed down while 13 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 4,169 to 57,046.

Value Traded decreased by 1.42 Billion to Rs.6.98 Billion
