Closing Bell: KSE-100 at the end of its wits…

Aug 06, 2019 (MLN): The KSE-100 index concluded yet another session in losses, as mounting uncertainty and cross border tensions continued to leave adverse impression on local investors. The bourse lost approximately 180 points throughout the session, and closed at 31,000-mark.

The Index traded in a range of 389.95 points or 1.25 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 31,329.24 and a low of 30,939.29.

Of the 85 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 24 closed up 60 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 41.94 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 94 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 37 points, Chemical with 18 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 17 points and Automobile Assembler with 12 points.

The most points taken off the index was by UBL which stripped the index of 38 points followed by MCB with 37 points, HUBC with 26 points, COLG with 12 points and THALL with 10 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Fertilizer with 15 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 10 points, Glass & Ceramics with 5 points, Pharmaceuticals with 3 points and Cable & Electrical Goods with 1 points.

The most points added to the index was by FFC which contributed 19 points followed by POL with 11 points, DAWH with 10 points, HBL with 6 points and GHGL with 5 points.

All Share Volume increased by 2.31 Million to 54.32 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.36.75 Billion.

Total companies traded were 320 compared to 314 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 112 closed up, 193 closed down while 15 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 2,045 to 25,774.

Value Traded increased by 0.88 Billion to Rs.2.67 Billion
