April 20, 2020 (MNL): The KSE-100 index ended today’s trading session with a 667.82 point or 2.03 percent gain and closed at 33,499.65.
The sentiments remained positive throughout the session owing to the measures taken by the Government in the previous week. However, the fall in international oil prices and the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the country kept the index from making further gains.
The Index remained positive throughout the session touching an intraday high of 33,826.21
Of the 95 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 49 closed up 43 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 283.15 million shares.
Sectors propping up the index were Fertilizer with 220 points, Cement with 183 points, Commercial Banks with 97 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 43 points and Power Generation & Distribution with 40 points.
The most points added to the index was by ENGRO which contributed 155 points followed by LUCK with 91 points, FFC with 70 points, HUBC with 46 points and HBL with 33 points.
Sector wise, the index was let down by Tobacco with 27 points, Transport with 7 points, Glass & Ceramics with 4 points, Close – End Mutual Fund with 4 points and Leather & Tanneries with 4 points.
The most points taken off the index was by PAKT which stripped the index of 16 points followed by EFERT with 12 points, PPL with 12 points, PMPK with 11 points and KAPCO with 7 points.
All Share Volume increased by 97.51 Million to 399.91 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.54.93 Billion.
Total companies traded were 375 compared to 362 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 194 closed up, 154 closed down while 27 remained unchanged.
Total trades increased by 44,027 to 130,584.
