Closing Bell: Domestic stocks down after oil price falls

September 18, 2019 (MLN): The market maintained the downward momentum from yesterday’s close as international crude oil prices saw a downward trend. At the end of trading session, the benchmark KSE-100 Index lost 353 points and settled at 31,555 level.

The Index remained negative throughout the session touching an intraday low of 31,509.04

Of the 89 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 23 closed up 62 closed down, while 4 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 74.67 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 123 points, Commercial Banks with 90 points, Fertilizer with 47 points, Cement with 45 points and Power Generation & Distribution with 30 points.

The most points taken off the index was by PPL which stripped the index of 51 points followed by POL with 39 points, LUCK with 36 points, UBL with 25 points and ENGRO with 22 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Food & Personal Care Products with 11 points, Pharmaceuticals with 7 points, Chemical with 5 points, Automobile Assembler with 2 points and Sugar & Allied Industries with 1 points.

The most points added to the index was by SEARL which contributed 8 points followed by PSO with 8 points, NATF with 7 points, COLG with 6 points and FCEPL with 4 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 22.65 Million to 99.36 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.53.17 Billion.

Total companies traded were 356 compared to 363 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 101 closed up, 230 closed down while 25 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 7,927 to 47,116.

Value Traded decreased by 1.23 Billion to Rs.3.97 Billion
