Closing Bell: Bulls give way to Bears

October 14, 2019 (MLN): The KSE-100 index lost around 289 points in today’s session and closed at 34,186-mark, i.e. down by 0.84%.

The 3-day long winning streak was brought to an end by profiteers, who once again, stroke the capital markets with their egocentric trading activity.

The Index traded in a range of 570.87 points or 1.66 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 34,697.92 and a low of 34,127.05.

Of the 91 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 20 closed up 64 closed down, while 7 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 99.23 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 133 points, Cement with 52 points, Fertilizer with 30 points, Pharmaceuticals with 21 points and Textile Composite with 20 points.

The most points taken off the index was by HBL which stripped the index of 42 points followed by LUCK with 40 points, MCB with 26 points, UBL with 19 points and SEARL with 17 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 21 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 13 points, Leather & Tanneries with 3 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 3 points and Real Estate Investment Trust with 2 points.

The most points added to the index was by MARI which contributed 23 points followed by DAWH with 18 points, OGDC with 16 points, HUBC with 8 points and COLG with 6 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 149.17 Million to 137.93 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.36.38 Billion.

Total companies traded were 371 compared to 403 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 103 closed up, 244 closed down while 24 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 31,944 to 53,557.

Value Traded decreased by 5.77 Billion to Rs.4.80 Billion
