Closing Bell: An Acceptable Loss

April 24, 2020 (MLN): Domestic Stocks slumped on Friday after dithering between red and green zone, ultimately fell into bear territory with a loss of just 44 points and closed the trade at 32,806 points mark. This was 0.14% lower compared to yesterday’s closing.

Investors remained passive today despite a significant reduction witnessed in Pakistan’s CAD and the comfort shown by Moody's on the balance of payment funding.  

The Index traded in a range of 330.24 points, showing an intraday high of 33,068.22 and a low of 32,737.98.

Of the 93 traded companies in the KSE100 Index, 30 closed up 57 closed down, while 6 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 98.71 million shares.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Tobacco with 27 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 26 points, Cement with 22 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 13 points and Pharmaceuticals with 10 points.

The most points taken off the index was by EFERT which stripped the index of 16 points followed by PAKT with 16 points, PSO with 16 points, DAWH with 14 points and PMPK with 11 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 29 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 20 points, Technology & Communication with 12 points, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 9 points and Automobile Assembler with 6 points.

The most points added to the index was by FFC which contributed 26 points followed by HUBC with 19 points, SYS with 16 points, UBL with 11 points and MARI with 11 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 83.78 Million to 120.58 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.24.73 Billion.

Total companies traded were 332 compared to 333 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 101 closed up, 209 closed down while 22 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 34,827 to 57,908.

Value Traded decreased by 4.49 Billion to Rs.4.91 Billion
