Chemical, Agricultural Imports during April, 2018 down 6.29 percent

According to the latest data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), total Agriculture and Chemical imports during the month of April clocked in at $742.806 million; posting a decline of 6.29 percent from March’s imports of $792.628 million.

Compared to that, year on year growth in the Agriculture and Chemical imports went up by more than 7.41 percent during the month of April. The total imports during the month of April 2018 against April 2017 grew by $51.276 million.

Agricultures and Chemicals imported to Pakistan mainly include fertilizer, Insecticides, Plastic Materials, Medicinal Products and other agriculture and chemical products.

The major chunk of imports under the Chemical head was mainly from the Plastic Material which contributed a total of 25.14 percent of the entire imports. Total Plastic Material imported during the month of April, 2018 clocked in by $186.715 million grew from $179.277 million same month last year.

The other major chunk of imports under the Chemical head was mainly from the medicinal Products which contributed a total of 17.05 percent of the entire imports. Total Plastic Material imported during the month of April, 2018 clocked in by $126.683 million grew from $100.057 million same month last year.

PBS data reveals the Insecticides imports shrank by 81.45 percent from March’s imports of 31.855 million. Insecticides imported during the month of April, 2018 clocked in at $5.909 million down from $33.309 million same month last year.

Furthermore, year on year imports in other Agricultural and Chemical products went up by 13.23 percent during April, 2018 with a month on month increase by 0.35 percent. Other agricultural and chemical Products clocked in at $408.005 million for the month of April, 2018.

Manufactured Fertilizer imports clocked in at $5.909 million, shrank by 81.45 percent to $31.855 million during the period March 2017.
