Cement Exports plunge 39% YoY and 45% MoM due to strong local demand

December 18, 2020 (MLN): Cement exports during the month of November 2020 declined by 39% YoY and 45.48% MoM to USD 18.127 million from USD29.79 million in Nov’19 and USD33.249 million recorded in the previous month.

A notable drop in cement exports can be attributed to strong local demand coming from private housing sector as local players shift their sales mix towards local market to take advantage of higher retention prices.

In terms of quantity, the exports of cement dipped by 51.89% MoM from 1,027,042 metric tons to 494,147 metric tons, whereas, on yearly basis, the quantity of cement exported plunged by 38.3% YoY from 800,901 metric tons, according to the data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

On a cumulative basis, the Cement exports during 5MFY20 declined by a negligible 0.43% YoY from USD124.2 million to USD 123.67 million.
