Capital Markets fall after four consecutive gains

After four consecutive sessions of bullish activity, KSE – 100 Index dropped by 844 points today, demonstrating a decrease of 1.9% as it concluded the session at 42,712 points.

Intraday high logged in at 43,638 points while the low was recorded at 42,603 points by the day end. The index moved within the bracket of 1,035 points.

Within the companies listed at KSE – 100, 157.8 million shares were traded at a value of PKR 11.3 billion.

Tobacco was the best performing sector at KSE – 100 today. Commercial Banks, Cement and Oil & Gas Exploration Companies, on the other hand, seemed to be dictating the index once again, as the three alone collectively took away 574 points from the index.

By the session end, 17 companies of KSE 100 had advanced while 76 companies had declined.

The broader KSE All Share Index lost 395 points today, as market capitalization declined by Rs 111 billion and closed the day at 30,908 points. The intraday high peaked at 31,352 points while the low was at 30,851 points by the day end.

Cement led the sector turnover at KSE today, as the companies within the sector witnessed trading activity of about 53 million shares.

At day end, 75 companies had moved positively while 246 companies ended the day in the red with 15 companies remaining unchanged from its previous closing at KSE.
