Budgetary borrowing takes a wide leap of Rs.482 billion from last year

January 14, 2019 (MLN): The Federal Government has borrowed up to Rs.835.7 billion in the last six months (July to January 4) for budgetary support, disclosed an official data release by the State Bank of Pakistan, today.

The document shows that as compared to last year, the borrowed amount is higher by Rs.482.3 billion, showing that the figure has more than doubled over the year.

As per the document published on central bank’s site, the government borrowed Rs.3.6 trillion from SBP, as compared to Rs.654.2 billion borrowed in the corresponding period of last year.

However, the federal government retired around Rs.2.6 trillion of Scheduled banks, as compared to only Rs.138.8 billion retired last year.
