June 12, 2020 (MLN): The total outlay for overall government expenditure during FY21 has been set at 7.23 trillion, out of which the amount for current expenditure is Rs 6.34 trillion, shows detailed budget document for FY21.
The outlay for current expenditure is 16.71% and 12.99% lower than the revised estimation and actual estimation of current expenditure for FY20.
More than half of this amount (Rs4.23 trillion) is dedicated to interest payments on past domestic and foreign debts and defence.
Mark-up payments for the year 2020-21 have been estimated at Rs 2.946 trillion out of which Rs 2.63 trillion would be paid on domestic debt which is 11% higher than the revised figures of FY20 and Rs 315 billion on foreign debt, which is down by 6% when it compared to the revised estimates of fiscal year 2020.
For Defence Affairs and Services, an amount of Rs 1.289 trillion has been estimated for the fiscal year 2020-21, indicating an increase of 5% when compared to revised estimation of Rs 1.227 trillion for the outgoing fiscal year 2019-20.
Other expenditures, which include pensions and running of the civil government, amount to Rs 945.74 billion, this is 4% higher when compared to the revised estimates of Rs 909.28 billion for the outgoing year 2019-20.
For grants and transfers, Rs 904 billion have been estimated against Revised estimation of Rs 1.177 trillion for the year 2019-20.
Subsidies have been valued at Rs 209 billion against revised estimation of Rs 349.5 billion for 2019-20.
The total development expenditure for the FY21 year is amounted to Rs 886.34 billion, a surge of 17% compared to last year's budget.
Of this amount, Rs 650 billion has been allocated to the federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), whereas, Rs 166.34 billion has been allocated to the development loans and grant for provinces. While for Non-PSDP development expenditure which includes expenditure heads such as Benazir Income Support Programme and Kamyab Jawan Programme, government has allocated Rs 70 billion for FY21.
