ADB to issue rupee denominated bonds worth $200 million

August 26, 2020 (MLN): The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved the issuance of rupee denominated bonds to support local currency and capital markets.

The worth of these rupee denominated bonds is said to be $200 million, the PKR value of which is equivalent to 33 billion rupees.

It is pertinent to note that this is the first time that the government has allowed international financial institutions to sell bonds.

Government can use these funds to finance projects in emerging sectors such as tourism and hospitality, IT, etc.
