PSX Closing Bell: Amongst the Waves

March 15, 2021 (MLN): Following on from the strong performance on the last trading session, the capital markets maintained the upside momentum on Monday by adding another 978.51 points to the benchmark KSE-100 index and closed at 44,766.59 i.e. up by 2.23% compared to the previous closing as political uncertainty subsided after senate elections.

The Index remained positive throughout the session touching an intraday high of 44,839.19.

Of the 97 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 80 closed up 15 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 239.61 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 171 points, Technology & Communication with 152 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 101 points, Commercial Banks with 92 points and Power Generation & Distribution with 79 points.

The most points added to the index was by TRG which contributed 97 points followed by PSO with 71 points, LUCK with 58 points, SYS with 54 points and HUBC with 47 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Paper & Board with 4 points, Close - End Mutual Fund with 4 points, Tobacco with 3 points and Vanaspati & Allied Industries with 1 points.

The most points taken off the index was by ENGRO which stripped the index of 12 points followed by MCB with 5 points, PKGS with 4 points, MUREB with 4 points and HGFA with 4 points.

All Share Volume increased by 12.99 Million to 455.55 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.164.65 Billion.

Total companies traded were 403 compared to 412 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 332 closed up, 59 closed down while 12 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 1,045 to 158,099.

Value Traded increased by 0.37 Billion to Rs.21.96 Billion
