100 index gains over 170 points on the last trading session of the week

The stock market remains in a state of consolidation, although leaning towards the bulls, as the benchmark KSE – 100 index advanced by 174 points to end the final session of the week at 42,505 points, having gained 0.41% from its previous closing.

The index peaked at 42,553 points during the day, with an intraday low of 42,097 points, thereby traveling in a range of 456 points today.

The volume of shares traded within the companies listed at KSE – 100, decreased to 114 million compared to yesterday’s tally of 170 million shares. The total value of shares traded today added up to PKR 7.67 billion.

Sector-wise, Fertilizer companies continued to lead the gains on the index with a contribution of 75 points to the 100-index.

Meanwhile, Commercial Banks maintained their position as the worst performer as well, having taken away 54 points from the index, followed by the cement sector.

Among the 84 companies within the KSE – 100 index that were traded today, 51 advanced, 30 declined while 1 remained unchanged by the end of the day. The remaining 16 companies were not traded at all.

The broader KSE All Share Index too closed the session with an increase of 160 points or 0.52%, to settle at 30,875 points. The index traveled a range of 297 points to touch a high of 30,903 points and a low of 30,605 points during the day.

The companies constituting the KSE All Share index witnessed trading activity for a total of 203 million shares at a value of PKR 9.37 billion.

Chemical companies led the sector turnover at the Karachi Stock Exchange today, with a trading activity of 19.9 million shares.

By the end of the day, 160 companies within the KSE All Share index had closed the session in the green while 103 companies closed in the red.
