May 6, 2019 (MLN): As many as 10.7 million bales of cotton arrived at a number of ginneries all over Pakistan as of May 1, 2019. However, this quantity is short by approximately 7% as compared to arrival of 11.5 million bales recorded in the corresponding period of last year.

In line with the data released by Pakistan Cotton Ginners’ Association (PCGA), around 6.6 million bales of cotton arrived at ginneries in Punjab, which is less by 9.5% YoY, whereas around 4.1 million bales arrived in Sindh, which is less by 2.3% YoY.

The largest portion of the lot was sold to the textile industry i.e. 10.1 million bales, whereas 103.5 thousand bales of cotton were sold to exporters. This means a total of 10.2 million bales were sold, leaving the remaining 522 thousand bales of stock unsold as of May 1, 2019.
